The music you are listening to is from Cornish Soundscape No 1 ‘An Ancient Land’. It was composed by Martyn Jackson in 2006 to form a musical background to all elements of ‘Ancient Stones of Kernow’, a project created with his wife Mandy, which centres on the prehistory of the far west of Cornwall.

While it stands on its own as a concert piece for full orchestra, the musical material forms the background to the historical commentary that accompanies the ’Ancient Stones of Kernow’ tours of the West Penwith landscape. At present it is being expanded into a  large scale dance theatre piece.

A C.D. of the three part commentary which gives a historical background to the tours and includes a full performance of the Cornish Soundscape No 1 will be available later in the year.
